CTAA Scholarships
Objective
The CTAA Scholarships are funded by the Canadian Technical Asphalt Association to support students preparing for careers as scientists, technologists or engineers in the general area of asphalt paving technology.
Scholarship Categories & Eligibility
1. CTAA Graduate Scholarship
Awarded to students admitted to or enrolled in a Canadian graduate program (Master’s or PhD) contributing to advances in asphalt technology. Eligible disciplines include chemistry, chemical engineering, and civil or construction engineering. Applicants from other fields must clearly demonstrate the relevance of their studies to asphalt technology.
2. CTAA Undergraduate Scholarship
Awarded to students who are admitted to or currently enrolled in a Canadian undergraduate program relevant to asphalt technology. Preferred fields of study include chemistry, chemical engineering, and civil or construction engineering. Applicants from other disciplines will be considered if they clearly demonstrate how their studies relate to asphalt.
Applicants must have completed at least one year of undergraduate studies and provide proof of completion.
3. CTAA Applied Technology Scholarship
Awarded to students admitted to or enrolled in a Canadian technical or community college diploma program related to asphalt technology. Eligible areas include chemistry, chemical engineering, and civil or construction engineering. Other disciplines may be considered if a clear connection to asphalt is made. Applicants with industry experience in asphalt technology are strongly encouraged to apply.
Scholarship Value
Selection is merit-based, not need-based. Each scholarship offers an award of $2,000, paid directly to the recipient upon selection.
Application Requirements (Deadline: September 15, 2025)
Applicants must submit the following with their application:
1. Completed electronic application form (indicate scholarship category)
2. Resume
3. Current academic transcripts
4. A personal statement (max. 500 words) on how the applicant will contribute to the asphalt industry
5. Two reference letters:
- One from the applicant’s program advisor.
- One from a CTAA member or another individual familiar with the applicant’s academic or technical qualifications.
Selection Timeline
• September 15 – Application deadline (all materials must be received).
• September 15 – October 15 – Review of applications by the CTAA Board of Directors.
• October 30 – Selected recipients are formally notified.
Recipient Obligation
Scholarship recipients must submit a letter of acknowledgment to the CTAA Head Office, briefly describing the studies the funds will support.
